Akshay Kumar starrer SkyForce released in the theatres on 24th January 2025. It was released on a positive note from the critic’s point of view. Most reviewers rated the movie above 3 stars out of 5. However, the movie didn’t have much hype before it was released. But, due to its strategic planning of offering free tickets on BookMyShow, we think it has done its work and now the movie is destined to become Superhit. The Akshay Kumar Factor
There’s no doubt that Akshay Kumar is a self-made superstar from the 90s era. But, the fact that needs to be seen here is that his last few years have not been that great at the Box Office.
Since ‘Selfieee’ was released he was trolled on social media for getting an opening of just 2 crores. ‘Raksha Bandhan’, ‘Mission Raniganj’, ‘Sarfira’, and a few other films of his were opening in single digits only. There’s no doubt about the content as most of his films were good content-wise.
‘OMG2’& ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’ sure did double-digit openings but in OMG2 Akshay just had an extended cameo role and the later movie is a double hero movie and not a solo movie. While OMG2 emerged as a superhit due to its great content, BMCM crashed at the Box Office due to its below-average content and acting.
There was a time when Akshay used to come with Patriotic movies and it was a given that it will surely collect in excess of 100 crores at the Box Office. It is also visible during his peak era that, his films do collect more than 100 crores but it rarely goes above 150 crores. And till Sooryavanshi was released he didn’t have a 200 crores+ movie in his career.

‘Sarfira’ & ‘Mission Raniganj’ do have some sort of patriotic feeling in them but they were not out-and-out patriotic movies. SkyForce on the other has released on Republic Day weekend and it surely gives us goosebumps and makes us realize why we love our Country.
Akshay and Patriotic movies go hand-in-hand. While we don’t indulge in the Political affairs of Bollywood actors, it is no secret that Akshay Kumar’s career did get impacted due to his infamous interview with our PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji. He is also criticized for being a Canadian which he of course changed and now he’s an Indian. This might have also boosted SkyForce’s Box Office Earnings.
The Crucial First 3 Days at The Box Office
SkyForce opened to a rare double-digit opening for Akshay Kumar as it collected 15.30 crores on its first day. While it is not that of a great opening as Bollywood is now opening in 50 60 70 crores+ nowadays. But, for Akshay Kumar, this is great due to his past records of 2 crore openings.
On Saturday, the movie skyrocketed its collected due to its great word of mouth and collected 26.30 crores. As it was also Republic weekend every trade analyst expected the movie to create havoc on D-Day i.e., Republic Day. The expectations were met as the movie collected 31.60 crores on its third day.
The upward trend in the collections does denote that the audience has accepted the film. Now it remains to be seen how much it can hold on its first Monday. Each film’s final collection is determined by how much it can hold on its first Monday. If it crashes on Monday, then the movie won’t last long at the Box Office.
